Combustible Cladding Regulation
The NSW Parliament has recently passed new legislation in relation to combustible cladding which will come into effect on 22 October 2018.
The new legislation requires owners of certain buildings with combustible cladding to obtain a report on the combustible cladding and provide the report to the Department of Planning and Environment.
There are time limits to provide the report to the Department of Planning and Environment. If the building was occupied before 22 October 2018, the report must be provided by 22 February 2019. If the building was occupied on or after 22 October 2018, the report must be provided within 4 months after the building is occupied.
If a building with combustible cladding fails to provide a report to the Department of Planning and Environment, the property owner may be issued with a penalty.
